FMP Briefing


FMP Briefing

50 Credits – Nearly 50% of 3rd year

Dissertation week use to print and bind

4 weeks to write statement of intent
-       Research
-       Testing
-       Printing

Testing briefs over 4 weeks, are they worth doing?

1st of February – SOI FMP

SOI will change over time with extra briefs etc

Post dissertation week:
Designing, exploring, developing, portfolio development

11th Week before Easter, interim presentations
Where are you so far
Have a significant amount of work to react to design context

After easter PPD Presentations

Easter focus on placements, visits, studios, contacting etc – Couple of days a week placement?
Book as many placements, visits before easter

Print will be open on Saturdays within coming weeks
Buy portfolio case
Buy camera

Link Dissertation to FMP – Branding, competition, digital age and media

Briefs made up / written need to be able to exist in the real world

Marking Criteria

Time Planning 10%
Respond to changes, problems – plan for, document and evaluate, problem solving

Research 10%
To gather, organise, evaluate and analyse it. Secondary, primary, appropriate methods

Critical Awareness 10%

Analyse nature of research and planning – how has it informed decisions

Visual Quality and Technical competence 20%
Ability to produce high quality professional work

Independent studio practise 20%
Resources – Effective use of studio space

Conceptual understanding of Graphic Design 20%
Concepts, problems, analysing GD, how it works, is it effective etc

Presenting 10%
Appropriate methods of professional presentation combining visual, verbal and written techniques
