FMP - Brief 7 - Final Product Photographs

Managed to get round photographing the final products for the boards, because of the small amount of products I think only one board will be produced for this brief.

FMP - Brief 4 - Re-assessed packaging format

Initially I wanted my packaging design to take the form of a cylinder, it seemed a practical way to hold the flour best, as bags and boxes tended to leak the delicate flour material, but I found it particularly difficult to design for and construct. I came across a box design which I felt would be appropriate, a box with concaving sides and a top flap and sticker, to allow easy access and reseal.

After deciding the colour palette to be green, rather than the original Tesco branding like blue, I pushed it across the Bero experience logo, as well as the packaging range. Once I had completed the design I felt it just didn't stand out enough, as on a shelf it would be submerged by other similarly colour products. So I designed the sticker to be a vibrant purple and hold an image of what the product could make, to add further context to the item.

FMP - Brief 8 - Range so far

I wanted to try and get the brief completed this week, as it was simple production and printing I needed to do. I managed to order a ink pad after finding the perfect colour match on the English Stamp Company, where I ordered my stamp from. I have stamped the remaining reverse colour business cards and am very happy with the result. I got some feedback from Lauren after giving her samples of everything and she's really pleased with the result.

FMP crit

The crit went pretty well today. Decided to only take along briefs which I felt I needed feedback on (so not the completed). So this included Everything Beauty, Doing my nut in, Thriftbox, Bero, and Laura Ashley. I prepared some questions to bring along which I felt I needed most help on which turned out to be pretty helpful. At this stage it's simple feedback I feel I need, like stock choices, and general feedback concerning design decisions. I got some pretty good feedback concerning the amount of work I had done at this stage, and some helpful feedback on my Bero logo choice and renal dialect books, after wondering which stock and format would be most appropriate for the content.

FMP - Brief 5 - Fabric Printing

So me and Soph had planned to visit fabric printing today, to try and figure out what we needed to know before printing down there. After my disaster and book making, and Sophies busy plans neither of us managed to stick to the plan, but Soph managed to find out somehow....

So that will help me out in the near future.

FMP - Brief 8 - Production

I've got tonnes done on the Thriftbox stuff, just not much time to blog it. So i went to screen printing after picking up some fabric from the market and got the tags printed. I got both white and yellow fabric as I am aware and yellow and blue colour palette won't be appropriate for every object Lauren may make. I managed to get about 150 tags printed and cut. 

I also managed to get the business cards printed after receiving the fabric like finished sample paper from Fedrigoni and they look amazing! I've had a lot of comments about how the logo looks hand stitched, which was exactly what I was going for. I've done two different businesscards, one fully printed both sides, and another with a blank side to be stamped with the Thriftbox logo, to retain the tactile nature of the company.

FMP - Brief 3 - Having a hissy fit at book making.

Tried to make some books. Twice. Failed miserably.
SO i had full intentions of finishing the regional dialect books today. After responding to the crit, by changing the stock so it was appropriate to the content I decided to use a simple bind, with the embossed designs on front and back. The first mistake was not cutting the books down before binding them...so did it again, had them finished looking pretty sweet, put them in the press to flatten...and it did just that, to my embossings too. By then the workshop was closing so will have to attempt again another day. But atleast the major work is done, I just have to change the front and back cover on each of the 5 publications.
