“Each year we send out a festive ‘Mulled Wine’ to clients and friends. Mulled wine is a traditional winter drink served warm, making it the perfect tonic to banish those winter chills…This year saw the birth of BUDDY’S ORIGINAL WINTER WARMER. The only sure and trusted way to ward off the icy claw of winter, and survive the manifold strifes of the festive season.”
This 'Winter Warmer' product is something which has been designed to look of a certain age, to look like a vintage wine - this has resulted in it looking very high end, but essentially something cheap to produce, using just black on white, and a simple paper and sticker wrap for the outer packaging, but managed to retain a quality and fines about it.

DC - Dessert Sleeve
http://zoo.ad/index.php/projects#/cinc_sentits
Packaging design for the “Cinc Sentits” restaurant from Barcelona.
A beautiful simple piece of wrap around packaging sealed with string, which also holds the product packaging still inside the container, as well as holding the net together. An effective way to temporarily package a dessert product, to be taken home from the restaurant its sold at.

DC - What is packaging

Looking at the subject of what is packaging, I came across this very simple container for a range of books. Working much like a business card case, in that the lid covers 80% of the casing. I much like this design due to its concept and consistancy with the product it is holding, the books had been catagorised into land, water, and desert. A pattern design and colour palette were created to reflect this. This is used across all design elements, including the casing.
The question of what is packaging, this could be seen as simple something the books needed to be put in, to be seen within retailers and by consumers as a working set of books. But overall its acting as a form of packaging - holding the books together in a format best suited for its purpose.

DC - Brief 4 - Alternative Packaging

A very simple approach to format using a box and sleeve, but the type, pattern, colour and illustrations is what makes this packaging special, vibrant, and of a high quality finish.

I really, really like this approach to packaging, using a very thin paper like stock with a simple die cut has been verry effective. Again we see the influence of older grocery packaging within the new.

DC - Brief 2 - Packaging Pack
Source: http://lovelypackage.com/bols-genever-holiday-gift-pack/
I considered creating a range of products for Douwe Egberts - to be sold as a pack, to entice coffee goers to drink coffee at home. I wanted to supply the coffee product itself, alongside the utensils to use it, e.g A mug - each with the DE logo and seal. This packaging show a creative way of holding and advertising the products - using cut outs and windows to reveal partials of each of the products packaged. Its something I will certainly consider doing.
Packaging designed for retail purpose - using finished such as die cut to reveal bits of the product packaged, to entice customers and interest.

DC - Hessian Packaging

http://zoo.ad/index.php/projectes/packaging#/Pack-promocional-True-Rum-Ramon-Morato
This is my favourite packaging I've ever come across, down to the crafting quality, consideration of stock and fabric, sewing elements, content and how beautiful it looks. I wanted to create a similiar sense of style within my Douwe Egberts packaging, when approaching packaging samples and the glass jars - it would really give it a professional finish and a different, more personal approach to its overall appearance.
This style of packaging is very far from commercial down to the huge amount of effort which needs to be used to create each individual packet. Its driven by stock and material choice, the designer has come up with a very simple solution to packaging the content: chocolate coins. The style of packaging also reflects the brow brand of 'True Rum'

DC - Brief 2 - Paradise
Artel Artyomovyh developed the package design for 3 groups of coffee: classic, exclusive, maragogipe for Gourmet-club™. Freshly launched, the new product - "Paradise Ńoffee briquettes" aimed at selling through it's own coffee-shop network.
A consistant design, using a die cut to reveal the type of coffee it is. Design choices driven to produce something of aesthetic purpose for retail, for smaller more specialised coffee manufacturers.

DC - Coffee Lovers
Source: http://www.gardens-co.com/index.php?/ongoing/i-coffee-lovers-newsi/
“Coffee Lovers” provides single origin coffee beans with its signature roast. We worked closely with the owner to redevelop the brand image from strategy, branding, packaging to website. After many hours of cupping, we brewed a unique packaging system to indicate the characters of different beans. At the same time, each type of coffee bean has its own symbol to visualize the favor. The selection of the design direction, colors and materials were based on the company philosophy– The Beauty of Simplicity. We tried to keep our marks as minimal as possibe'
The packaging design is based on the companies and products philosophy - the beauty of simplicity. It used a consistent brown paper bag, of which a range of stickers, each representing a different product, it placed on it.
